Town of Quispamsis moves to online permit application process

QUISPAMSIS, NB – The Town of Quispamsis is excited to announce the application process for all Town-issued permits is moving online.

This means any building, renovation, development, water, and sewerage permit applications must be completed using a new Development and Building Permit Application Portal.

Previous forms are no longer available.

The Development and Building Permit Application Portal is accessible by computer, tablet, or smartphone through the Planning and Development page on the Town of Quispamsis website. It enables users to apply for permits and submit all accompanying documentation online, without the need for paper copies. The online submission automatically triggers a compliance review process through the Town’s Planning and Development Services without delay.

The Development and Building Permit Application Portal is expected to increase the efficiency of the application process in several ways:

  • Applicants must complete the required fields before their online application can be submitted. Partial or incomplete applications cannot proceed through the Development and Building Permit Application Portal, although they can be saved and resumed later.
  • The portal provides the option to apply for permits relating to multiple projects at the same time rather than having to make separate submissions.
  • The portal features instructional videos to guide applicants through the process.
  • Planning and Development Services staff will have more opportunities to assist applicants, in person and online, while significantly reducing any delays due to missing information.
  • Applicants can begin their projects sooner because online applications will be reviewed and approved, with permits issued, more quickly.

To assist in this change, the Town has established a computer kiosk at Quispamsis Town Hall for applicants without access to the internet or a computer. Planning and Development Services staff will be available for consultations at Quispamsis Town Hall weekdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. through Friday, March 22, during the transition.  Applicants can also book appointments if requiring assistance.

This is an important step in the Town’s long-term goal of enhancing digital services capabilities in permit applications and various municipal processes to include progress tracking, online payments, and other necessary functions.
