qplex

Your home for recreation in Quispamsis.

The qplex, a multipurpose recreation and conference centre, is a fixture in Quispamsis. Highlighting the facility are its NHL-sized ice surface, indoor walking track, McCluskey Brothers Conference Centre, outdoor swimming pool and playground. It is fully accessible.

The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick operates a childcare centre on site.

The qplex is the focal point of a recreational complex off Randy Jones Way that includes soccer and softball fields, tennis and pickleball courts, a community garden, an outdoor classroom, an off-leash dog park and walking trails.

There is also a fire pit available for public rentals by contacting Community Services.

The qplex canteen, on the east side of the indoor walking track, is open evenings in the fall and winter and during the day when events are scheduled in the arena. A variety of food, snacks and beverages are available for purchase. It is also a licensed establishment.

The pool canteen (seasonal) is open weekdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. and weekends 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. serving many of your snacking favourites, including a variety of beverages, hot dogs, chips, candy and more. Debit and cash are accepted.

Recreation Facility Allocation Policy

Many recreation facilities in Quispamsis are governed by a Recreation Facility Allocation Policy.

Its purpose is to:

  • Establish a fair and transparent process for allocating the use of town recreational facilities;
  • Define user group categories and outline their priority for facility access;
  • Advance equity, inclusion, sustainability, and public benefit through facility booking practices;
  • Provide guidance for town staff for administering facility scheduling in a consistent and accountable manner;
  • Encourage responsible use, collaborative problem solving, and data-informed decision making around facility access.

This policy is guided by extensive community engagement, best practices in recreation management, and the town’s commitment to serving the diverse needs of residents.
