Quispamsis to host 2023 Para Hockey Cup

Hockey Canada has announced that the Town of Quispamsis will host the 2023 Para Hockey Cup.

The four-team tournament will be held December 3-9 at the qplex, culminating in gold and bronze medal games.

Officials from the Town of Quispamsis, the provincial government, Envision Saint John and Hockey New Brunswick (on behalf of Hockey Canada) gathered for the announcement in the Quispamsis Town Hall council chambers.

“We are so excited to add another marquee event to our region with the 2023 Para Hockey Cup coming to Quispamsis for eight days in early December,” said Quispamsis Mayor Libby O’Hara. “Para hockey in Canada dates back to the late 1970s and has experienced immense growth. It has been a full-medal sport at the Paralympics for two decades and showcases some of the best athletes Canada has to offer.”

“The international competition will highlight diversity within hockey, and will showcase that hockey really is for anyone who wants to play,” said Premier Blaine Higgs, who is also the MLA for Quispamsis.

Hockey Canada promoted the event announcement on its website.

Ticket and schedule information will be announced in the coming weeks.
