Town seeks volunteers to join Ritchie Lake Community Advisory Committee

The town of Quispamsis is seeking volunteers to join the new Ritchie Lake Community Advisory Committee.

The Committee’s mission will be to initiate goals, track changes, organize community outreach events, provide guidance, make recommendations to town of Quispamsis Council for budget allocation and action items, foster conservation, and ensure sustainable management to maintain the ecological integrity of Ritchie Lake. In addition, the Committee will aim to support the ecological health of the lake while also supporting the interests of residents and stakeholders.

The Committee will consist of nine members, including three from the community (with preference given to residents in close proximity to Ritchie Lake), and three members at large representing the building and development community, Canadian National Railway, environmental community organizations, and a scientific or technical organization. The other three members will be one councillor and two staff members from the town of Quispamsis.

Anyone interested in joining the Ritchie Lake Community Advisory Committee can apply using the Town Committee Application. All applications are reviewed by the town’s Nominating Committee and recommendations are forwarded to Quispamsis Council for approval.

The deadline for applications is Friday, March 14, at 5 p.m.

A Community Advisory Committee was among the recommendations in a town consultant’s Ritchie Lake Baseline Assessment and Ritchie Lake Management Plan, presented to Quispamsis Council in December.
