Prepare your property for rainfall, snow melt

The town of Quispamsis has a few reminders to help keep residents and their homes safe ahead of the upcoming spring thaw.

It is likely our region will see some rain as we move through the winter season and into the spring snow melt.

This could result in a significant amount of surface water unable to get into ditches and drainage paths due to snow and ice cover.

Homeowners are responsible for proper drainage on their own properties. Prepare your home and property for draining water in advance of warming weather.

Please ensure water is running away from your home’s foundation to help prevent flooding in basements and crawl spaces.

Also, do not drain water down your driveway and onto your road as this can cause damage and washouts to both.

You can assist our staff with drainage efforts by removing any leaves, branches, snow, ice or other debris on your property that may eventually create blockages in catch basins and ditches around your property.
