Prospective candidates in this spring’s municipal elections can learn more about local government at an upcoming information session.
Quispamsis and Elections NB will host the public event on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 pm at Town Hall. It will include specific information for people interested in running for Quispamsis Town Council, District Education Council or Regional Health Authority.
“We are pleased to promote these elections to encourage a strong field of candidates seeking these important positions,” said Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth.
The evening is designed to provide would-be candidates with insight into what the role of a municipal councillor, district education councillor or regional health authority member entails.
Quispamsis has prepared a candidate orientation kit for any residents who might want to run in the May election. It contains information such as the number of council meetings, committee work, duties of a councillor, and remuneration. You can access the kit here.
“This is a great opportunity to provide our residents with some specific information they need to make an informed decision on whether they’ll let their name stand for any type of elected office this spring,” said Quispamsis Chief Administrative Officer Susan Deuville.
Municipal elections will be held across New Brunswick on Monday, May 11.
