The Town of Quispamsis is located in southwestern New Brunswick, 22 km northeast of the City of Saint John, situated along the scenic Kennebecasis and Hammond River waterways. These rivers provide an excellent opportunity for diversity to all boating enthusiasts from canoeing or kayaking the Hammond River Marshes to power boating, jet skiing or sailing the Kennebecasis River, which empties into the Saint John River, the greatest waterway in Eastern Canada. A cable ferry service crosses the Kennebecasis River to connect the Town to the picturesque Kingston's Peninsula area.

This beautiful suburban community consists of more than 58.89 sq kilometres (21 sq. miles) and is one of the Province's most rapidly expanding communities, having increased in population from 2,700 in 1973 to 8,446 in 1991 and to 13,521 in 1998. The Town of Quispamsis was incorporated as a Village in 1966, then later assumed Town status on December 22, 1982. With amalgamation of January 1, 1998, the Town of Quispamsis, the Village of Gondola Point, and a portion of Wells created the new town of Quispamsis.

The original inhabitants of the area were the proud Maliseet First Nation, part of the great Algonquin Federation. The name, "Quispamsis" was translated from the Maliseet language and means, "little lake in the woods", the lake being the present-day Ritchie Lake located in the center of town.

The Community's Downtown Core and Industrial Park Development have increased rapidly during the past few years to include three plazas, two McDonald restaurants, Kentucky Fried Chicken, two Tim Horton's, and a enlarged Shoppers Drug Mart Mall, equipped with a multitude of various retail and service establishments available to the residents of the Kennebecasis Valley.
