Coun. Pierre Rioux is serving his fourth term as Councillor. Pierre was first elected to Quispamsis Town Council in 2004.
Pierre and his wife, Nancy, moved to Quispamsis in 1974 and raised their four children, Paula, Marc, Robert and Adam. During that time, Pierre has seen Quispamsis grow from a small village to the wonderful community that it is today. After long and successful careers, both Pierre and Nancy retired from teaching in 2002.
In 1989-91, Pierre served on the Town’s Planning Advisory Committee and was reappointed in 2002. Since 2004, he has continued to serve as the Council representative on this committee.
Pierre also serves on the Climate Change and Scholarship committees. He has been involved with the Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, the 24 Hour Relay, Skate to Care and since 2004 has been a volunteer at the Imperial Theatre and an active member of the KV Old Boys assisting in their charitable work in the Kennebecasis Valley.
Known in local music circles as the “Councillor of Jazz”, Pierre has performed in the live music scene in southern N.B. for over fifty years. He is co-founder (2006) and promoter of the KV Jazz/Blues Fest that is held annually on the Labour Day weekend in the Kennebecasis Valley.
He has been an active volunteer and supporter of our youth programs, especially hockey, baseball and basketball. Pierre has been a proud advocate of developing in Quispamsis some of the finest recreational facilities in the province.
In the future, Pierre is hoping to work towards improved infrastructure – road maintenance and sidewalk implementation and continued advancement in our municipal water and sewerage programs..
He looks forward to working with his fellow Councillors in their efforts to see Quispamsis grow and prosper.
