Potholes

Potholes ... no one likes them ... they seem to pop up overnight. The time of year is coming when thawing of ice and snow causes water to enter into the cracks in the surface of the road. Traffic travelling over these areas weakens them, and in a short period of time, there forms - a pothole. Priority will be given to potholes that affect many drivers.
We know that we cannot find all the potholes in the town. That is why we rely on the public to report potholes when they see them. Please notify the Works Department at 849-5742. This will help us in repairing potholes as soon as possible.

I.A.F.F. Local 3591
Rothesay, N.B.

The Kennebecasis Valley Firefighters want to provide the residents of the Kennebecasis Valley with the quickest possible response to any emergency you may have. In order to help us find you fast, we have for sale reflective civic numbers on an aluminum sign with a blue reflective background. They come in three different sizes (which is dependent on your street number) and have proven to be a great asset to those emergency crews who are trying to find an address, especially after dark.
The signs may be ordered from the Fire Department by calling 848-6602. The cost is $15.00 per sign.

Backwater Valve

All homeowners should be aware of the necessity of a backwater valve. The backwater valve is a check valve and, when working properly, it can help prevent a backup of sewerage water into the basement area of your house, due to a sewer main blockage.
This valve should be installed on the building drain just inside the foundation wall, inside an access panel in the basement floor. In cases where the building drain goes through the wall, the valve must also be accessible.
The Sewerage Utility By-Law states that all new homes must have a backwater valve installed on the building drain inside the foundation wall.
If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Chris Vriezen, Utility Supervisor, at the Works Department - 849-5734.
